For centuries liquor had played a center role in private gatherings and celebrations, but only the true premium quality was saved for special occasions.

In the following list we will be looking at the most expensive drinks in the world

New call-to-action

The Most Expensive Wine In The World?

1945 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti

The most expensive wine in the world is the 1945 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Romanée-Conti Grand Cru which shattered all previous records in 2018 when it was sold for $558,000 during Sotheby’s New York sale. With that price tag, it not only became the most expensive 750ml bottle of Burgundy, it was also the most expensive bottle of wine in the world. A title which it holds to this day.

But what makes the 1945 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Romanée-Conti Grand Cru so expensive? The answer is quality and rarity. This bottle of wine comes from the 4.5-acre Romanée-Conti vineyard said to produce the highest of quality red and white wines. Not only that, due to the weather conditions during that particular year, wines were very concentrated and production was extremely low. This led to only 600 bottles ever being produced, with most having already been opened and consumed today.

Such exquisite quality and immense rarity make this particular bottle worthy of its price tag, and well-deserving to be number 1 on any list with the most expensive wine of all time.

The Most Expensive Cognac In The World?

Henri IV Dudognon Heritage Cognac

The most expensive cognac in the world is the Henri IV Dudognon Heritage Cognac worth $2 million. This staggeringly expensive liquor was first produced in 1776 by Dudognon Cognac, an estate in Lignières-Sonneville, in the heart of the premier cru of Grande Champagne. Named in honor of King Henri IV it is one of the rarest and most expensive drinks on the planet. Each bottle is filled with premium Heritage Cognac that has been maturing for a century in quality oak barrels. Speaking of the bottles, each weighs in at 17lbs and is filled with a liter of the finest Heritage Cognac. The bottle itself is made from sterling platinum and 24K gold, and is decorated with 6,500 diamonds.

The Most Expensive Whiskey In The World?

The most expensive whiskey in the world is the Isabella’s Islay whiskey worth $6.2 million . Made of white gold and encrusted with 8,500 diamonds and 300 rubies, it is perhaps one of the most beautiful decanters in the world. The contents however are also of extreme quality. The Isabella’s Islay whiskey enclosed is considered by many to be the true epitome of a luxury Scotch whiskey.

The Most Expensive Brandy In The World?

Mendis Coconut Brandy

The most expensive brandy in the world is the Mendis Coconut Brandy worth $1 million. Contrary to what its name implies, this premium brandy is not made from coconuts. Instead it is made using flowers from palm trees, this is what gives it its subtle coconut flavor. But why does this bottle have such a high price tag? The bottle itself is not lavishly decorated like the other entries on the list, and the brandy, while of premium quality could not warrant such a price on its own. So what is it?

Simply put it’s the experience of buying it. The price includes a first class flight alongside a seven day stay in the Maldives. While there you will be taken by private helicopter to Sri Lanka where you will receive a personal tour of the Mendis distillery. There the bottle of expensive brandy will be handed to you by W.M. Mendis, himself.

The number one most expensive vodka in the world is the 2015 iteration of the Billionaire Vodka by Leon Verres priced at $7.25 million. Inside this massive 18-liter bottle is a vodka made from an original Russian recipe filtered with pure diamonds.

The Most Expensive Gin In The World?

watenshi gin

The most expensive gin in the world is the Watenhi Japanese Angel gin worth $2,700. This expensive gin gets its name from master distiller Will Lowe, wanting to capture the angels share. The angel’s share is the portion of alcohol usually lost to evaporation. In order to accomplish this, Lowe had to employ a complex distillation process. According to Lowe the gin is distilled at “half the pressure found on top of Mount Everest and at a temperature lower than the coldest day recorded at the South Pole”. Whichever the method, the result is an intense and complex gin with notes of bitter juniper, spice, and citrus.

The most expensive champagne in the world is the 2013 Taste of Diamonds, also known as Gout de Diamants, worth $2.07 million. While its contents are of true premium quality, what sets this champagne apart from all others is its bottle. The diamond shaped label is made out of white gold which is decorated by a massive Swarovski crystal in its center. The brilliant design is owed to Shammi Shinh, owner of London-based luxury Prodiguer Brands.

The expensive liquor itself is produced in the Amalfi coast, famous throughout the world for its sweet lemons.
