Rio Tinto is one of the largest mining and metal companies producing some of the most stunning naturally colored diamonds in the world. The diamonds, which are not part of their prestigious annual tender, are handled by an exclusive group of Select Ateliers. Most recently, Rio Tinto added another member to this exclusive list.
It was no surprise to many. Most recently, Dhamani launched their DPINK Collection, a new line of pink diamond jewelry. The Dubai-based jeweler already consists mostly of pink stones from Rio Tinto’s Argyle mine in Australia. Select Atelier is a title every jeweler dreams of. Rio Tinto trusts these Select Ateliers with the precious prosccess of handling these non-tender diamonds.
Rio Tinto states, “A group of master craftsmen known as Argyle Pink Diamonds Select Ateliers and Authorised Partners have been appointed to ensure all market initiatives are in support of the standards of care and chain of custody that are set from the mine discovery to the acquisition of finished fine jewellery or polished diamonds.”
The Rio Tinto website continues to say, “It is a laurel to be a member of this exclusive network and the selection of Argyle Pink Diamonds Select Atelier jewellers and trade partners is a vigorous consideration process. Being a Select Atelier indicates that a jewellery brand has a direct relationship with Argyle Pink Diamonds and is amongst the finest at their craft.”

Showcasing more than $25 million of Argyle pink diamond jewelry with their DPINK collection, the official launch of Dhamani as a Select Atelier happened against the backdrop of Dubai Shopping Festival.
Dhamani is a second-generation business run within the family. They were established in 1969 that continues to share their passion of rare diamonds to this day. Managing director and CEO if Dhamani, Amit Dhamani, says “Since 1969 our family has been tirelessly devoted to working with the world’s rarest diamonds. Pink diamonds are one of the highest coveted stones for their beauty and their rarity. Furthermore, the value of pink diamonds continues to increase. Since 2005, these stones have increased 15% each year on average.
